Experiencing age instead of explaining it – my first assignment

At SD&C, we not only sell and rent our age simulation suits, but also offer supervised assignments – both in Germany and abroad.

I, Ann-Cathrin Ruatti, team assistant at SD&C, was able to carry out my first supervised assignment in Ludwigshafen at the end of 2025 and gain a lot of valuable experience in the process.

I arrived at the venue an hour before the event started so that I could prepare everything calmly and carefully. The event took place in a shopping centre and served to promote a newly produced series that dealt with topics such as ‘frailty in old age’. Contact with our customers was very pleasant from the outset, and everyone involved in the promotional campaign was extremely friendly and open.

I set up my stand in such a way that I could specifically address curious passers-by, invite them to try out the age simulation and provide them with individual support and advice. I managed to get children, young people and even older people excited about the experience of ageing over 40 years. It was particularly nice to raise awareness of the topic of ageing among many people and to open up new perspectives for them through the simulation.

I was most impressed by an almost 80-year-old lady who was very keen to try out our Senior Suit Beta. She inspired me personally, as she was physically fitter than many 20-year-olds. She told me enthusiastically about the sporting activities she had enjoyed throughout her life and still enjoys today. She was a prime example of how important exercise and sport are for quality of life in old age.

In total, I spent over eight hours supervising the age simulations, talking to participants and setting small movement tasks for passers-by. Both I and our customers were very satisfied with my first supervised assignment, which was reflected in consistently positive feedback and motivated me to take on further assignments in the future.

Age simulation is and remains an impressive experience that provides lasting food for thought – and one that everyone should definitely experience for themselves at least once.
